Police found 14 bags of marijuana in a 3-year-old
girl's book bag at her Manhattan daycare center Friday afternoon,
officials said.
Police described the stash of pot
found at the daycare in Harlem as "substantial." It was packed in six
sandwich-sized bags and several other larger freezer bags, police said.
Teachers called authorities after smelling the odor of marijuana. The girl is believed to be in the care of child welfare authorities. Parents at the center on Friday said they were stunned.
One mom said she never had any reason
to be concerned about the care provided at the facility, and blamed the
family of the girl, not the daycare.
"It's something wrong with the parents," she said.
